The blessed month of Rabi’ al-Awwal is a month that is significant to Muslims around the world. According to most reports, Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) was born this month and passed away this month. Some Muslims across the world celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) which is also known as Mawlid or Milad depending on the region you are from. For many, the month holds much significance and importance along with the other important months of the Islamic Calendar.
In celebration of this auspicious month, LU4C and Radio 786 partnered in the best way we know how; by giving to those less fortunate. Part of the event saw staff and learners from the Liesbeek Primary School cooking 2 pots of Chicken Akni which was distributed to members of the Tafelsig community, and the learners of the Nural Islam Madrassa.
The plight within our communities is reaching dire levels, and is compounded by unemployment, and exorbitant costs of living. Since the covid pandemic, the need for community feeding stations have increased. However these stations are under tremendous strain to keep the pots flowing.
We are dependent on the generosity of donors to support with ingredients, gas, and PPE equipment to support the vulnerable children and elderly within our communities.
Our appeal is for your continued support to help as feed those in need. If you are not able to contribute financially, sharing this post is also a great help as it helps us share the message.
Muhammad, upon him be peace, said: “Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).” (Muslim)
